More than 80 local swimmers have covered more than 100 miles to raise funds for the Foyle Hospice.
The sixth annual Swimathon was held this year over two sessions, at William Street pool on Saturday, April 14 and Body Kneads Fitness Centre on Sunday, April 22. The completed 168,000 metres or 105miles under the guidance of organiser Peter McLaughlin.
“Those taking part this year swam anything from 10 lengths to 200 lengths, all towards our 100 miles target - a fantastic achievement. We are delighted to see how the interest and number of participants has grown over the years. We are grateful to Charlene Lourens, manageress at Body Kneads Fitness Club, White Horse Hotel, and John Doherty manager at William Street pool, for hosting the event,” he said.
Anyone interested in participating in the Swimathon should contact Peter through the Foyle Hospice.
