The A-Team: Derry students express delight at results

Local students have expressed their delight as the long and anxious wait for A-level results finally came to an end today. Here's what they had to say:

Orlaith Breen (19) from Templegrove: Maths (A*) Biology (A*) French (A*) Chemistry (A*) further Maths AS (A), Thornhill College: “I was so stressed out and then I got a call to say I’d done well and I was a bit less freaked out. I’m going to Oxford to study Medicine.”

Remi Rabillat (18) from Eglinton: Engineering (A*), Art (A), ICT (B), St Joseph’s Boys’ School, Creggan. “I’m going to Manchester Metropolitan University to do Animation. I got a text saying that I got in and I was very happy when I saw the results .”

Tiegan King (18) from Greysteel: Psychology (A), Biology (A), (Spanish (A), Thornhill: “I was really nervous and wasn’t expecting my grades. I was a bundle of nerves yesterday but I am absolutely over the moon now. I’m going to Queen’s to study Human Biology.”

Gary Breslin (18) from Hazelbank: Moving Images (A), Journalism (B) English (C). St Joseph’s: “I’m going now to do Film Studies at Queen’s. I didn’t get much sleep last night and I am over the moon, I didn’t expect it. It’s the most pleasant surprise of my life.”

Niamh McMonagle (19) from The Branch: History (A*) Politics (A*) Spanish (A), Thornhill: “I was nervous, very nervous, I didn’t really sleep at all. I’m so happy with that result, I’m delighted. I’m going to Queen’s University to do Law with Politics. I can’t wait.”

Shane McGowan (19) from Hazelbank: P.E. (A*) Journalism (A) English (B), St Joseph’s: “I was chilled out about it, whatever will be will be. I think too many people worry about it, but it was a great surprise. I’m going to Queen’s to do English. I’m looking forward to it.”
