Derry’s Ebrington Square will come alive with the sound of music tomorrow (Saturday 30 March) afternoon when up to 150 local voices will gather for an afternoon of celebration and relaxation through song.
The event, organised by community music expert Valerie Whitworth, brings together a host of local singing talent including Siobhan Heaney of Derry based Singtonicity as well as Sarah Murphy and Karen McLaughlin. An established singer, Siobhan is encouraging as many people as possible to attend tomorrow’s unique event.
“The idea behind the day is to just give people an opportunity to come along and sing with others to produce wonderful music in Ebrington. If people like singing, are already in a choir or would like to see if they’ve got a singing voice we want them to a come along. They will have an absolutely wonderful time,” she says.
Siobhan says with good numbers in attendance the outcome has the potential to be fantastic, as she explains.
“Just imagine the volume of singing together and the fun and the harmonies that will be produced. I think it will be a really good day.”
While hopeful that the week’s high temperatures will last, organisers have a contingency plan of a fully heated tent in place if the sunshine turns to showers!
The one day event kicks off at 11:00am and runs until 4:30pm, is free of charge and open to everyone.
