‘The Face of Derry’

These are the shortlisted models in the Face of Derry Competition.

Readers are invited to vote for their favourite entry, you can complete the voting form in the Sunday Journal on August 5 and in the Derry Journal on Friday 10th August.

The winning Face of Derry will be announced in the paper on Friday August 17. The winner of the public vote will be offered a modelling contract by Angel Modelling Agency. The Face of Derry 2013 will then go forward to represent the County at the Face of Ireland Competition.

The Face of Ireland competition searches the 32 counties of Ireland for suitable female candidates over the age of 18 who believe they have got what it takes to be the next Face of Ireland whilst helping various charities.

Over the seven year history of the competition, it has supported charities such as The Solace Cancer Support Centre in Donegal Town Co. Donegal, The 1 Life Suicide Helpline (1800247100) Aware, My Sister Zoe Appeal, The Tyrone Branch of the MS Society The STOP organisation which stands for ‘Suicide’ ‘Teach’ ‘Organise’ and Prevent’ a registered charity which assists and supports individuals who feel suicidal, who are in distress or those who have been bereaved by suicide and the 2013 Campaign will once again assist several charities including a newly formed charitable organization ‘GRASP’ set up to assist and deal with people who are thinking about suicide and families who have had a member who has attempted or succeeded in committing Suicide. These are just a few charities that Face of Ireland has helped.

Last year some 29,000 applicants began the selection process which resulted in Garda Ciara Quinn being named the 2012 Face of Ireland.

Ms Quinn collected a one-year modelling contract with the Rebecca De Havalland Model Agency, a luxurious holiday for two to New York with flights and accommodation, a one-week break away for two to Orlando, Florida, and a one week holiday for two in Spain.

The Face of Ireland 2013 winner will receive some fabulous prizes and gifts including a trip for two to Spain, she will also travel with a member of the Face of Ireland team to New York and will be assisting the organizers at the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York by officially launching the parade.

The winner will also receive ten luxurious dresses from her dress sponsor, a fantastic photoshoot with Derek McAuley Photography, €1000 Jewellery from Orchid Jewels, styling by an award winning stylist, luxurious tanning hampers, makeup hampers, hair hampers and will also feature on a fly-on-the-wall documentary which will be filmed over the year of the winner’s reign.
