Derry GAA legend Anthony Tohill has been badly injured in a gardening accident.
It’s understood the All-Ireland winner and multiple All-Star sustained serious injuries to his face in the incident which took place earlier this week.
Unconfirmed reports suggested the accident involved a piece of cutting equipment.
It’s understood Mr. Tohill (41) - a top ranking official with Derry City Council - had to be hospitalised due to the extent of his injuries.
A friend of Mr. Tohill described the incident as “a great shock.”
A native of Swatragh in South Derry, Anthony Tohill - a regular sports pundit on television - is regarded as something of a legend in local GAA circles.
He was a key member of Derry’s 1993 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winning side and also scooped two Ulster Championships and four National League titles with the county.
He was also awarded four All Star awards during an illustrious playing career.
