SDLP councillor Martin Reilly has welcomed the announcement by Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard of progress on the long-awaited upgrade of the Old Waterside Station.
Colr. Reilly has lobbied for the regeneration of the original iconic station and for a new transport hub in the area for many years.
He said: “I welcome that the plans are to incorporate the will of citizens here who want to see this historical old building, with all the tourism and built heritage potential that it holds, being put to better use than currently exists.
“More and more people are choosing to use the railway line, so we need a train station that is fit-for-purpose, and which connects with other modes of transport throughout the city.”
