New Derry flights to Palma confirmed

A new flight route from City of Derry Airport to Palma in Majorca for next summmer has just been confirmed.

The new summer sun weekly service is set to begin on June 26, 2017.

The Thompson and First Choice route will run for eight weeks over the summer period.

Palma is the capital and main city in the Balearic island of Majorca, and is the holiday of choice for millions every year.

The new programme from City of Derry Airport will give holidaymakers from the North West region the opportunity to discover and explore the largest island in the Balearics.

Charlotte Brenner, Marketing Manager for Thomson and First Choice, said: “At Thomson and First Choice we understand the convenience of travelling from your local airport and we’re delighted to be able to provide customers from the North West the option to travel from the City of Derry Airport to the sunny Balearic Isle of Majorca – the number one holiday destination from Northern Ireland.

Member of the Airport Committee Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed the introduction of the new summer route.

Colr. McGinley said: “Palma is a very popular holiday destination and the introduction of this flight will be warmly welcomed.

The new route will also assist City of Derry Airport in its ongoing efforts to provide travellers with a wider choice of destination.”
