Tributes have been paid to veteran republican, Tommy Donaghy from Foreglen who passed away on Monday.
East Derry Sinn Fein said the former Limavady Borough councillor and ex-prisoner would be “sorely missed” by all those “who knew and loved him”.
In a statement, East Derry Sinn Fein said: “It is with deep sorrow we mourn the passing of Tommy Donaghy today.
Wee Tam was a republican leader and he had taken on many different roles through-out the struggle, no matter what the role - big or small - Tommy brought a determination and thranness to each of these roles, demonstrating his dedication to the republican cause in a selfless and modest manner.
“Tommy was our friend and comrade and he will be sorely missed by all of us who knew and loved him.
“To Mary Alice, Rory and Marion, we send you our deepest sympathies he was one of the best. Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam.”
Sinn Fein councillor Dermot Nicholl said: “RIP Tommy. Thoughts & prayers with the family at this time. ...A massive loss to the republican community.”
Sinn Fein councillor Brenda Chivers said: “RIP. You will be missed. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.”
