Two men have been shot in Derry.

Police say both men were shot in the legs in the High Park area of Creggan shortly after 7pm last night (December 13).

It is understood their injuries are not life threatening.

Politicans have condemned the shooting.

SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey said he was appalled by the attack.

“Those who carried out this attack had no regard for the people living in the High Park area of Creggan who have been clear in their opposition to such vigilante actions.

“The disruption caused tonight to people in the area and the hurt caused to the families of those injured are the only outcomes of this mindless action and it must be condemned by all sections of the community.”

Sinn Fein councillor Kevin Campbell said: “These attacks will achieve nothing and I would call on those responsible to desist from these actions”
