What happens when a St Cecilia’s College student swaps uniforms with a pupil from Lisneal College?
No actor could act – and no writer could script – the charming but poignant scene when two 17-year-olds from either side of Derry switch school uniforms.
The gesture is simple and effervescent, but utterly subversive.
Courtney Cooke is from Lisneal college, in the Waterside and Yvonne Weir attends Catholic St Cecilia’s college in Creggan.
In the short film, In Peace Apart - Teaching Divided Histories, which has been nominated for a prestigious award in Boston, the two girls walk around Derry wearing each other’s uniforms.
They then decided to mix them up.
The two girls then come up with an idea for the future of education in the city.
The video was made by the Nerve Centre, Derry.
