A Derry woman who continues to fight for her life after falling seriously ill in Asia - had given her family their best Christmas present ever this year, when she surprised them all by returning home unexpectedly.
Dennis and Sharon Orsi, parents of Lisa (22) have travelled to be at the bedside of their daughter in a hospital on the east of the island of Java.
This video shows the joy on the Orsi family’s faces when they were all together at Christmas.
The family have allowed us to show this video of their daughter Lisa taken just two months ago, when she arrived home at Christmas surprising them all.
Lisa, who is originally from Woodside Heights in Top Of the Hill, was found in a state of collapse on Friday at the accommodation where she was staying.
She had moved to the South East Asia region some time ago and was working as a physiotherapist in Singapore.
Her mum Sharon posted on facebook: “As soon as we can we will move Lisa to Singapore as we feel that she needs friendly and voices she might recognise. Lisa at the moment is not responding to the treatment. We are eternally grateful to you all for the support God bless you all.”
SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey spoke to her father before he and his wife began the long journey east on Saturday.
Mr Ramsey said how Lisa had not long returned back to Asia after surprising her family with a visit home for Christmas in December.
Mr Ramsey said: “Obviously her family are quite distressed by it all. The thoughts and prayers from across the city will reassure them.”
An online appeal to help with travel and medical costs has been set up by Lisa’s best friend since childhood Sinead McElhinney at the website address: www.gogetfunding.com/project/pray-for-lisa.
Over £11,000 has been donated already.
