The St. Mary’s College choir joined international jazz musician, Jamie Cullum, on stage in the Millennium Forum on Monday evening.
The choir provided the warm-up entertainment before Cullum and his band took the stage earlier on. However, towards the end of the concert the Derry choir joined Cullum and his band on stage where they helped him to sing one of his songs.
Cullum’s performance was the headline act at this year’s City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival.
Cullum first visited Derry in 2013 when he was making a documentary about pianos and during his time here he spent time playing music with students at St. Mary’s College.
“It’s amazing to be back in Derry,” said Cullum during the show.
“Music is really part of the community here and the only other place I can compare Derry to when it comes to music is New Orleans.
“The St. Mary’s College choir were amazing tonight - I think if there were more schools in the world like St. Mary’s the world would be a better place,” said the Grammy nominated star.
