Virgin Media works in Ardgrange area of city
Concerns have been raised over disruption for residents during works in the Grangemore/ Ardgrange area of Derry.
Virgin Media have been carrying out upgrade work in the area over recent days.
Speaking about the issue, Sinn Féin Councillor Colly Kelly said: “There were some concerns raised by residents when a letter delivered discussed possible disruption and restricted access to homes.
“Residents had attempted to call the number but were unable to get speaking to anyone who could help.”
Colr. Kelly said they have been able to make contact with the company.
“We have spoken to representatives from Virgin and they have given us assurances that disruption will be kept to a minimum and that they will be happy to assist anyone whose access is blocked to gain access,” Colr. Kelly said, adding:
“If any resident has any problems with this work I can be contacted on 07845277117.”
One local man meanwhile said he has had to mount pavements to exit the estate in the morning due to the works.
“There seems to be quite a lot of work going on,” he said. “I just hope it is sorted out as quickly as possible now.”
The Journal was unable to make contact with Virgin Media representatives this week.
Virgin Media announced an increase of 55,000 customers in the first three months of 2016 across Ireland and the UK, with a major roll out of ultra-fast broadband taking place.
