A Derry teenager is hoping she can gain enough votes in an online competition to win over judges for a chance to play her part on stage on Broadway.
Úna Morrisson from Hazelbank has entered the ‘Give a Girl her Chance’ competition. If she can get enough online votes, judges in the US will then listen to Una’s video audition and she could realise her dream of performing on Broadway in New York.
A past pupil of the Foyle School of Speech and Drama, Úna has a passion for musical theatre and has appeared on stage in Derry several times.
“It would be my dream to appear in the West End or Broadway,” said the former St Cecilia’s Pupil.
“We have relatives in America and they suggested this competition would be perfect for me so I’ve now recorded the song and I’m hoping people here will vote for me.”
Úna is the only Irish candidate in the competition and is hoping for success when judges in the U.S make their decisions next week.
“My singing teacher Laura Sheerin and piano teacher Kathryn O’Callaghan helped me a lot with the preparation for the compeition so I want to say a big thank you to them,” says Una.
Voting takes place until April 6 and votes can be cast by clicking on this link: www.daddylonglegsmusical.com/vote
