A well known local playwright has begun the search for the star of his new play.
Stan McGowan, who has penned well known productions such as ‘Knock the Hill of Mary,’ and ‘The Tragedy of Dunkeer House’ is holding open auditions in a bid to find a stunning cast for his new play, ‘The Wood of the Crows.’
The play deals with the tragic events that led to the death of the young Prehen heiress Mary Ann Knox, by the hand of her much older lover John MacNaughten in 1761.
The play will be directed by the author and will be performed at The Playhouse in November this year to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the tragedy.
Parts up for grabs include: John MacNaughten - aged 40 years, Andrew Knox - aged 50 years, Honoria Knox - aged 50 years, George Knox - aged 22 years, Mary Ann Knox - aged 17/18 years, Angel Knox - aged 60 years and James (Butler) - aged 60 years.
