WATCH - Bogside residents urged to voice opinions on new parking scheme

Minister Hazzard officially launched the new scheme in the Bogside on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputy First Minister and Sinn Fein MLA for Foyle, Martin McGuinness, was also at the launch.

“A few weeks ago I met with local community representatives and saw for myself the issues they are facing in relation to all-day commuter parking in their local area.

“Today I want to confirm proposals for a residents’ parking scheme in the Rossville Street area. The scheme, which will be consulted on over the next few months, offers a solution to the issues faced by local residents for many years and I hope they can now look forward to parking near their home.”

The proposed scheme includes free of charge residents’ parking and visitor parking permits.

The scheme will now be consulted on informally with affected residents, and then formally, with a view to commencing later this year.
