Watch: Police on dissident attempt to murder officer with automatic weapon during Derry disorder

Top Derry police officer Superintendent Gordon McCalmont has blamed 'violent dissident republicans' for the attempted murder of PSNI officers with an automatic weapon in Derry on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the 'Journal' this afternoon Superintendent McCalmont said he believed paramilitaries had moved in to exploit the street disorder that had been created by young people involved in a spate of anti-social behaviour in the Bogside area over recent weeks.
