New NI weather alert: disruption to continue with sub-zero temperatures, ice and hill snow - Met Office issues yellow status weather warning for NI

The temperature will remain below zero for the majority of places in Northern Ireland on Monday evening and Tuesday.

The current cold snap arrived towards the end of last week.

Many areas in Northern Ireland saw snowfall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

No snow is currently forecast for low ground areas but with the below freezing temperatures it is likely ice will be widespread.

“Icy patches are likely to develop during early Tuesday as wet weather spreads eastwards across Northern Ireland and falls onto cold roads and pavements,” reads the warning on the Met Office website.

“In addition, above 200m there may be some hill snow,” added the Met Office.

The warning was issued on Monday morning and is valid between 2.00am and 10.00am on Tuesday January 25.

The weather alert applies to all of Northern Ireland.
