Plans to improve road safety around Lavery Fold on Derry’s Asylum Road have been welcomed.
Sinn Fein councillor Mickey Cooper, who facilitated a meeting between Fold residents and Roads Service officials - said the improvements will make the area safer for residents.
“Its good news for residents of Lavery Fold. The area around their homes is always very busy during the day with the Social Security office across the street and they would get a lot traffic travelling through the area going into the city centre,” he said.
Under the safety improvement scheme officials will examine the need for a pedestrian crossing, erect improved signage warning and remove drop kerbs.
