A 22-year-old Limavady woman who pleaded guilty to the theft of a floor mat and other items from a Limavady supermarket said she was “out of it” at the time of the offence, a court has heard.
Dionne Davis pleaded guilty to theft, including food and household items from the store on December 10, 2014, when she appeared at Limavady Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Davis was seen acting supiciously in the store. CCTV later identified Davis and showed her leaving the store without going to the check out.
Police attended her home and saw a floor mat and packets of hot food in the house.
During interview, Davis made full admissions. Most of the items were recovered, excluding the food stuffs.
Defence for Davis said his client had sufficient funds to pay for the items. However, he said Davis said she had taken prescription drugs and and she “was out of it” at the time of the offence.
District Judge Peter King imposed a four-month jail sentence, suspended for two years.
