Work to install traffic lights at Pennyburn Roundabout will resume next Monday.
The new signals which will operate on a part time basis to control the traffic flows on the Strand Road and the Buncrana Road during the busy morning period, should be operational in November. Work at the junction had to be stalled at the beginning of the Summer because of a lack of funding.
Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper welcomed the move. He said: “Many of the residents would use the facility on a daily basis I am very pleased to have been informed by Transport NI that a pedestrian crossing is to proceed at this junction.”
