Donegal County Council began re-surfacing work on Aghilly road in Buncrana yesterday.
Senior roads engineer Stephen Hopkins told the Inishowen Municipal District meeting that while the works won’t be a “complete resurfacing” they will be “more than potholing” and will be undertaken on around 200 metres of road.
Meanwhile, the CPO on Aghilly road has been approved and the Council’s road design team is now working through the land purchase and payment process. Mr Hopkins said a lot of work is “happening in the background” in relation to this process, adding that agreement has been reached with around 20% of the 50 landowners in terms of payment. He added that land transfer was a “painstaking process” and he understood how people in the area could be frustrated by any delay.
Councillor Rena Donaghey welcomed the works.
