Sharon Osbourne said Conor’s rendition was a “beautiful performance”, adding that she was “very, very impressed.”

Nicole Scherzinger meanwhile said his performance had power behind it ”and you meant it”.

Simon Cowell praised Conor for making the song his own, while Louis Walsh described the Derry man’s audition as “magic”.

Also getting a unanimous yes vote from the judges was County Derry barman Niall Sexton.

The Magherafelt 22-year-old delivered a note perfect version of Sarah Bareillies’ ballad ‘Gravity’.

Simon Cowell said he loved the performance, while Sharon Osbourne praised Niall’s vocal abilities.

Both young men will now progress to the next round after getting through the tough opening round in the UK and Ireland-wide competition.

There was disappointment however for 19-year-old potato farmer Jordan Devine from Strabane, after he failed to secure a place with a rendition of Robbie Williams’ ‘Candy’.

The judges felt it wasn’t Jordan’s time this time round, but they all took a shine to the young Tyrone man.

Conor and Niall will now be hoping to progress through bootcamp and on to the live X Factor shows later in the year.
