Young man, aged 20 to 39, admitted with COVID-19 to Altnagelvin which has 9.29% capacity left

One more person - a young man aged between 20 and 39 - was admitted to Altnagelvin with coronavirus yesterday.

At midnight on Tuesday 43 people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients across all Western Trust hospitals.

Six of 12 (50%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; four (33.33%) were occupied by patients with other conditions and two (16.67%) were free.

Eight ICU patients in total were being ventilated - four were COVID-19 patients and four were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 8.98 of beds at Altnagelvin were ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 80.19% were ‘other occupied’ and the hospital had 9.29% capacity left in the system: 1.55% were ‘awaiting admission.’

There have been no further deaths locally.
