Employees from DuPont in Derry have attended a special careers event in Thornhill College offering practical advice for young people on their chosen careers.
Operations supervisor Sean Godfery said: “It is very important that young women are encouraged to take more of an interest in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) subjects and I hope that by talking to them about a career in engineering they realise that it is rewarding with fantastic prospects.
“As a company, we regularly reach out to schools, offering prizes for STEM related tasks as well as creating our own competitions, so we are constantly engaging with young minds and hopefully inspiring them to choose a job in this field.
“I would encourage anyone, male or female, who wants to learn more about working as an engineer, to speak to their teacher or a careers advisor and get more information about what is possible.,” concluded Sean.
