Thanks for Jesse’s visit

On behalf of the Pat Finucane Centre and the Bloody Sunday Trust can I thank everyone who helped facilitate the visit of Rev Jesse Jackson to Derry at the weekend? In particular we would like to thank the Mayor and the staff at the Guildhall, the staff at the Free Derry Museum and the many families who came on Sunday morning and Garvan O’Doherty and the staff at Da Vincis who provided a quiet space and much needed sustenance.

The meeting with representatives of the Protestant and unionist tradition provided a valuable insight to Jesse Jackson and his party.

The family of Henry Cunningham deeply appreciate the involvement of the participating schools in Inishowen in the annual literary award, the students teachers and parents and especially the contribution made by Professor Christine Bell who judged the winning essay. Schools will be contacted soon with details of the title of the 2012 award.

The visit was made possible by the Belfast Media Group.
