Youth workers engaging with young people after Waterside hate incident

Youth workers and community safety wardens are engaging with young people to ensure their future safety and well-being following a report of a sectarian hate incident outside the Waterside Youth Club on Tuesday night.

A spokesperson for the Education Authority, said: “On Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at approximately 9.15 pm an incident took place on the Dungiven Road as young people were leaving Waterside Youth Club. The PSNI were contacted immediately and are currently investigating.

“The safety and well-being of young people is, as always, the highest priority for the Education Authority. Youth Workers and Community Safety Wardens are engaging with young people in the area to address this issue presently.”
