The Derry Donegal Vipers American Football team are hoping for a big support at the YMCA, Drumahoe this Sunday for their final home match of the season.

It’s been a hugely successful season for Derry’s only American Football team as they are flying high in the IAFL 2 Division and have already qualified for the prestigious end of season Bowl Game (Divisional Superbowl).

It’s certainly a far cry from their debut season last year when they finished their campaign with a record of one win and five losses! The Vipers have gone unbeaten so far this season, winning all four games and with just two left to go before they head off to the Bowl Game in Dublin, the Red and Gold will be looking to finish off their home campaign with a morale boosting win. They take on The North Dublin Pirates and having already beaten the Pirates at their ground in Malahide this year (26-6) The Vipers will be confident going into the game.

Sitting on the summit of the division, alongside their Bowl Game opponents The Wexford Eagles, The Vipers will be hoping to continue to build momentum going into that deciding game.

With the Bowl Game qualifiers already decided, the Vipers will have to remain focused in the last two league games of the season as they continue to strive towards a remarkable unbeaten season.

But in The Pirates they find a determined and very capable foe, a team who have already picked up a win in only their first season. In an extremely competitive division where every team has managed a win, this one could be difficult to call.

The Vipers bring a little more to the event with bouncy castles for the kids and hot food also on site at The YMCA on match day.
