Carn FC v CIE Ranch

Carn fly the flag for Inishowen in the open draw stage of the FAI Junior cup and at St Patricks Park manager Dermot Coyle will be hopeful that they can progress past CIE Ranch. Coyle of course will know nothing about the visitors except that with all Dublin sides they will be well organised, competitive and will not lack in confidence.

Carn have good balance all over the field with a mixture of youth and experience. Keeper Gerard Crossan is as we have come to expect in excellent form and with the likes of Gerard McEleney, Brendan Tabb and Matthew Byrne in defence they should be well organised. The form of young players like Conor Doherty and Ronan Doherty Have been helped by the experience of the likes of Michael Byrne and Cathal Doherty. In attack Patrick McGuinness has been among the goals while the physical presence of Oliver McConalogue could be crucial. All in all an excellent game to look forward to and best wishes from all in Inishowen go to the Carn side.

Glengad United v Clonmany Shamrocks

After their victory in Moville a fortnight ago Clonmany can really blow the title race wide open if they can inflict defeat on Glengad at the Crua. Without doubt they have the players with the likes of Jason, Brendan and Michael Devlin, Paddy Doherty and Liam Hirrell all worthy of their place on any team in the league. But Glengad have a superb mixture of youth and experience and they will be confident of repeating their three one earlier league success. The test for them will come if they suffer a setback but they should get at least a point here.

Cockhill Celtic Youths v QPS

This is another crucial six pointer at the bottom of the table. The Point performed an amazing escape last season but if they lose here they will be seven points adrift of a Cockhill side who know that a victory would go a long way to keeping them up. The first game in the league ended in a two all draw and the point have been unlucky to suffer four single goal defeats in the league to date. Cockhill have been boosted by the regarding of Garbhan Friel and Mark Moran and they will expect to win at home.

Moville Celtic v Aileach FC

Moville will hope to avenge an early season defeat at the Lakeside and really need to go on a winning run if they are to get back into the title race. The four one defeat at home to Clonmany a fortnight ago did not tell the full story as they had numerous chances and pushing forward they were always going to leave gaps. Aileach have had a very poor run of results and have conceded more goals than any of the other top five teams averaging two a game.In what is sure to be a good open game it could go either way but defeat for either would surely end their title ambitions.

Greencastle FC v Redcastle United

With their nearest relegation rivals playing each other this weekend Eunan McDaid knows that his Greencastle side simply must collect all three points here otherwise they face the prospect of going straight back down. The first encounter ended three two to Redcastle who have been boosted with a superb win in Aileach a fornight ago.

John Logue has been delighted with the attitude and performances of his players and victory here would all but assure survival. It could go either way.

Illies Celtic v Gleneely Colts

Illies under Paul and Raymond Doherty have hauled themselves into the battle for promotion but will know that they can ill afford any slip ups when they face second from bottom Gleneely before the Christmas break. Illies have recorded a four three win and a scoreless draw over the Colts who have been very inconsistent. Conceding three goals a game has been their Achilles heel and unless they tighten up they will suffer another defeat here.

Dunree United v Culdaff FC

This is a crucial game in the league title battle this season as Dunree lie six behind Culdaff with a game in hand and simply must avoid defeat at least to stay in the shake up. Stephen Doherty knows his side has not performed well against Culdaff this season as they have suffered five one and four one defeats. The visitors are attempting to bounce back to the premier division and if they had not squandered a two goal lead against Rasheney a fortnight ago they would be sitting pretty. But a third victory here would be just as good and they can also afford the luxury of a draw.

Carrowmena FC v Buncrana Hearts Res

This top versus bottom clash looks to be an easy assignment for the visitors but they should guard against over confidence. Carrowmena have battled hard lately and have become more difficult to beat but they need a morale boosting victory to galvanise them. The visitors have an excellent young side with the likes of Darragh O’Connor, James Quigley, Harry Forshaw and Caolan McGonagle all excellent players.Theyw ill be strongly expected to maintain their challenge at the top of the table.

Moville Celtic Res v Rasheney FC

If they win their games in hand then Rasheney could be right in the promotion shake up and successive victories over Culdaff and Carrowmena has moved them up the table. In their opening fixture Rasheney recorded an emphatic three nil victory but the scoreline did not reveal the full story as Moville had plenty of chances but a poor first half condemned them to their defeat. In a close call this one could go either way although Rasheney’s late good run could give the the edge.
