Ch'SHIP SNOOKER: Mixed results for Cricket Club big-hitters

The latest quarter-final action in the Mick O'Reilly Intermediate Championship delivered mixed fortunes for Glendermott's Steve Weekes and Maurice Ferguson, two potters with few peers in this grade of snooker.

The pair faced Oak Grove opposition, with Weekes confirming short-price favouritism against the junior-graded Barry McDaid (55-27 and 70-52), but Ferguson lost out in two closely contested frame to the very capable Shea Norris (64-58 and 60-50).

The semi-finals in both the Intermediate and Junior Championship grades are down for decision this week, the combatants doubtless experiencing a tingle of excitement and the inevitable ‘butterflies’ as they face the semi-final intimidating atmosphere. Know how they feel as I played in a few myself, always with a calm nerve I hasten to add (thanks to a session in the pub before hand!).
