DERRY GAA: Oak Leafers welcome back Lynn for Meath clash

Enda Lynn could be set to make a shock return to Derry colours this weekend against Meath in Round Two of the All Ireland Qualifying Series (Saturday, 2.30pm, extra-time if required).

The Greenlough forward has been a huge loss since breaking his ankle in the McKenna Cup final against Tyrone and missed the Oak Leafers’ entire league campaign. Lynn suffered a setback before the Ulster Championship which looked to have ruled him out for the season but he has recovered quicker than expected and reports suggest he is back in contention for Saturday’s visit of Meath to Owenbeg.

Also back are Thomas Mallon, Chrissy McKaigue and Ciaran McFaul. All three players missed the first round 1-18 to 2-10 victory over Louth, McKaigue through suspension with Mallon and McFaul absent because of injury.

The Loup keeper will be expected to slot straight back into the No. 1 spot after a hamstring injury to Callum Mullan-Young forced Damian Barton to turn to goalkeeping coach, Michael Conlan, against the ‘Wee County’.

It is not all good news for Derry though with Dermot McBride, Shane Heavron and Daniel McKinless still out.

Saturday will be Derry’s first meeting with Meath in the Qualifiers although they have already faced each other at Owenbeg this season in Division Two when the Oak Leafers required a late point to secure a draw.
