Derry talisman Paddy Bradley will have to wait a little longer before he can make his long awaited return for the Oak Leafers.
It was reported that Bradley would make his first appearance since sustaining a serious knee injury nine months ago. However, Derry boss John Brennan has not included the Glenullin club man in his squad to take on Cavan in the McKenna Cup at Celtic Park this afternoon. (Throw in: 2pm).
“He [Paddy Bradley] doesn’t feel up to it,” said Brennan. “We played a bit of a game amongst ourselves. You are fine running about on your own. It’s different when you start mixing with other people. He still has a bit to do.”
However it seems that Bradley will have less than a week to wait before he gets some game time. Brennan intends to use next week’s game against Jordanstown to give the former All-Star a run out.
“Hopefully he will be fit for the Jordanstown game,” said Brennan.
It’s the Oak Leafers’ first outing in the competition since they won it last year. Brennan is taking nothing for granted and said that the team will have to be wary of a new look Cavan side.
“We will have to contain them in the first few minutes. They are an unknown quantity. At this time of the year you just don’t know.
