DERRY CITY: Timlin '˜delighted' to be back at City

The 22 year-old Buncrana man was unveiled as a Derry City player at a Press Conference at the Foyle Arena this morning (Wednesday), following a season with St Patrick’s Athletic.

And the exciting winger insists he’s excited about wearing the red and white Candy Stripes for a second spell and is hoping to improve as a player under the stewardship of Kenny Shiels.

“I’m delighted to be back,” he said. “I’m just glad that it’s done because it’s been going on for a few weeks since the season ended really so I’m delighted it’s finally done.”

The midfielder, who left Derry at the end of the 2015 campaign for ‘personal reasons’, insists he doesn’t have any regrets about the move to Dublin. However, he’s glad to be back around familiar faces at the club.

“I’ve kept in touch with the majority of players and I’m quite close with a few of them,” added Timlin. “So coming in today felt like I’ve never been away really.”

And he’s excited about working under Shiels who he believes can help him achieve his personal targets next season.

“From the way the boys have been talking about working under Kenny it’s brilliant last year. So I’ve got a lot to learn as well and hopefully I can improve over the next season or so under Kenny,

“I’ve set targets for myself for this season and hopefully I can achieve them.”

Timlin began his career with his local club, Buncrana Hearts before going on trial with English Championship club, Ipswich Town in July 2011 where he spent three seasons with the club’s reserves, scoring 10 goals in 35 games.

He was then signed by former City boss, Roddy Collins in 2014 and spent two seasons with the Brandywell club before securing a move to Inchicore.
