Ten man Derry City progressed to the League Cup final with a thrilling penalty shoot out triumph over Sligo at the Brandywell last night.
The game ended in deadlock at 3-3 after 120 mins.
Daniel Lafferty - who was red carded with 11 minutes of normal time remaining - opened the scoring for the home side on 33 minutes before Danny Ventre equalised on the stroke of half time.
Stephen McLaughlin put the Candystripes ahead on 75mins, before Doyle again brought Rovers level four minutes later.
In extra time McLaughlin again put City ahead before Doyle’s second drew Sligo level.
Derry won 5-3 in the shoot out, with Eugene ferry producing a vital save before McLaughlin netted the decisive spot kick.
Derry now face Cork City in the EA Sports League Cup final.
