DERRY CITY manager, Peter Hutton has signed Shamrock Rovers defender, Rob Cornwall on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old arrived for training this morning and admitted he was ‘buzzing’ when Hutton declared his interest in signing him.
“I went to Pat Fenlon and asked for a loan move and he told me that a few clubs were interested and Derry City was the biggest club,” he said.
“I was buzzing when I got the call from Peter (Hutton) and it was an easy move for me.”
Hutton claimed the arrival of the former Shelbourne man, who can also play in midfield, will be a valuable addition to his squad.
“Rob comes with a great versatility, as he can play in a number of positions; anywhere across the back four and also in midfield, so he gives us a lot of options,” said the Derry boss.
“He is predominantly a right-back, but as I said he can play in a number of positions and we are delighted to get him on board.”
Cornwall is Hutton’s second signing since the July Transfer Window opened last week, following quickly in the footsteps of striker, Mark Quigley.
