FORMER Derry City midfielder, Danny Ventre has joined Conference side, AFC Telford United on a short term deal.
The 28 year-old Liverpudlian was a free agent after leaving Peter Hutton’s ‘Candy Stripes’ at the end of the League of Ireland season last November.
Ventre had been on trial at Hartlepool since but will now join Steve Kittrick’s Telford who are currently bottom of the Conference.
And the ex-Sligo Rovers skipper is expected to be thrown straight into action tomorrow (Tuesday) in a hastily re-arranged home game against Halifax.
Telford announced the signing of Ventre today and he will join the ‘Bucks’ until the end of the current season after impressing in a behind closed doors game on Saturday.
Ventre had played 27 games in all competitions for the ‘Candy Stripes’ last season, including the FAI Cup Final defeat to St Patrick’s Athletic in November - his final game before his departure from Derry.
His season was disrupted by injury but he made a timely recovery from surgery on a cartilage tear for the final few games of the 2014 campaign after eight weeks on the sideline.
