Premier league giants Everton are to send coaches to a soccer camp run by a local community club in Derry, which had to be expanded after it sold out in less than three hours.

Ballymoor FC, which is based in the Creggan/ Brandywell area, has built up close relations with the club in recent years.

Ballymoor were part of a project that visited Goodison Park a couple of years ago, as part of a cross-community, cross-border initiative run by Teenage Kickz with the aid of Everton in the Community.

Ballymoor has continued to develop its own links and has now confirmed that it is to host a soccer camp in association with Everton.

A statement on its Facebook page said: “Ballymoor FC is proud to announce our Easter Soccer Camp with Everton FC. Ballymoor FC has developed a great relationship with Premier League Club and will run the camp for 3 days on 9th, 10th & 11th April 2015. At the camp players are guaranteed fun, educational, development with talent ID if a player stands out!

“The Everton coaches will be taking the 3 day event and putting players through their paces premier league style!!!”

There were initially only 50 places available but the places sold out so quickly that Ballymoor asked Everton if they could expand the camp. Everton agreed to increase the limit to 70 places.
