The Saturday Morning League programme was almost totally wiped out due to the incessant rain at the weekend with just one match surviving the inclement weather conditions.
All clubs that hold a permit from the weekend’s postponed fixtures are asked to have it transferred to Saturday next as all fixtures that were due to be played will be played this week.
Foyle FC . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2
Culmore . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2
This was the only game to survive the weather at the weekend and it turned out to be an entertaining Championship contest between two evenly matched sides.
The first half was a tight affair with both defences doing their job well and it came as no surprise when both sides went into the break deadlocked.
Culmore started the second half on the front foot and within 10 minutes of the restart deservedly took the lead with Matt Merrigan opening the scoring.
Foyle were soon right back in the mix as Aaron McLaughlin nipped in to score and the game was all square at 1-1.
Culmore were then awarded a free kick in a very dangerous area and as the ball was whipped in to the Foyle penalty area, it took a wicked deflection off Mickey McCready and the keeper was left stranded as the ball went into the net.
Just when it looked like Culmore would go on and win the game they won a free kick and McCready made amends for his own goal as he fired into the top corner to level the game.
