Red Star claim first ever Championship at Prehen

RED STAR lifted their first ever Championship trophy when securing a vital draw against their nearest rivals, Drumahoe as the race for the title went right down to the wire at Prehen.

Meanwhile, in the Premier Division, Clifton Villa defeated Brandywell Celtic by a narrow margin to secure their place in next season’s North West Champions League.

And there were no shocks in the O’Bryan Cup as all the fancied sides progressed to the quarter-finals. Du Pont defeated Rocking Chair; Clooney claimed victory over Oakleaf Celtic while Rosemount, Oxford United and Foyle Harps also booked their places in the next round.

Gransha Institute could lift the First Division title tonight providing they avoid defeat against Benbradagh Colts. That game kicks-off at 6.30 p.m. at Lisnagelvin.

And the Premier Division title will also be decided tomorrow night as Phoenix Swifts take on Westbank United at Brandywell Stadium at 7 p.m. Admission to that game is £2.
