Two Premier Division sides fell at the first hurdle as The Blue Riband Cup took centre stage in The Bentley Bar North West Saturday Morning League.
In the Cup, Championship sides Sion Swifts and Newton Heath shocked Rosemount and Du Pont respectively while Clooney went to Culmore and defeated the local side. Tamnaherin managed to get the better off Dungiven while Bentley and City Colts also coasted through to the next round with wins over Foyle FC and Tristar.
In the Premier Division, Westbank United could have ended Brandywell Celtic’s title aspirations after they won 4-0 and Clifton Villa had to battle to beat Hatmore Harps 3-2. The biggest scorers of the day though were Creggan Swifts as they hammered HML 10-1 to stay well in contention
