Former Derry City star, Stephen McLaughlin could end up going back out on loan to Notts County, if manager Shaun Derry gets his way.
Derry is keen to bring McLaughlin back to Meadow Lane next month following a very succesful spell on loan from neighbours, Nottingham Forest.
Derry has already begun talks with Nottingham Forest about the future of the winger, who has now returned to his parent club following a successful switch towards the end of September. McLaughlin played 16 games for County in all, becoming the Magpies’ leading playmaker with seven assists.
The importance of the 24-year-old’s contribution has not gone unrecognised by Derry, although he admits McLaughlin’s future is in the hands of Forest manager, Stuart Pearce.
“What Stephen has delivered for us during his time here has been excellent and I would like to keep him,” Derry told the Nottingham Post.
“The conversations with Forest have already taken place but they have their own agendas to consider.
“They’ve had a loss to Birmingham which will hurt them and their season has tailed off in recent weeks. Stuart will want to get his troops back on fire like they were at the start of the season.
“At this moment in time, we are not too sure whether Stephen fits into their jigsaw.”
