Yesterday Pat Jennings was revealed as your goalkeeping choice for an All Ireland World Cup dream team, now we can unveil who you chose to play in the team’s defence.

Our back four is made up of four Republic of Ireland players to have graced the World Cup in the 1990’s.

Steve Stauton, the youngest member of Ireland’s 1990 Italia World Cup squad, played at left back in every game of that tournament - and received 42% of votes in our dream team selector.

The former Liverpool and Aston Villa star, who would later manage Ireland, also played every game at the 1994 and 2002 tournaments - making his 100th international appearance against Germany at the tournament in Japan/South Korea.

Cork native Denis Irwin also makes your selection - polling 87% of votes.

The Manchester United full back would win 56 caps for Ireland, playing at the 1994 World Cup.

He’s joined in the back four by two fellow Manchester United stars.

Kevin Moran, like Staunton garnered 42% of your votes.

Moran, an accomplished GAA player with two All Ireland titles to his name, played 71 times for his country, including at the 1990 World Cup. He was a member of the 1994 USA squad but did not feature due to a pre tournament injury.

Moran is partnered at the heart of your defence by a man many consider to be among Ireland’s soccer greats - Paul McGrath.

Stylish and tough in equal measure, McGrath won more than 80 caps for his country, and was ever present at the 1990 World Cup as Ireland reached the quarter finals.

McGrath again was a mainstay in the 1994 side despite a painful shoulder injury.

To recap, your team so far is:

GK:Pat Jennings

RB: Denis Irwin

LB: Steve Staunton

CB:Kevin Moran
