GREYHOUND RACING: '˜Dark Seeker' tipped to win at Lifford

There will be a good 12 race card of racing at Lifford Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night and there are three greyhounds that I think have great chances in their respective races.

In the eighth race over 525 yards ‘Dark Seeker’ in trap one looks the one to be on. The August ‘13 bitch was third in her last race at the track and she runs in the same grade tomorrow night. From a favourable trap one this strong stayer should win for her Co. Tyrone owner, Frank McElwee.

The second bet on the card is ‘Smurfing Mary’ in the 11th race over 525 yards. The June ‘14 dog has only four races on his card and he ran an eye-catching race last week when he finished second in a 525 yards race. That was his first race over 525 yards so with normal improvement ‘Smurfing Mary’ is the selection to win for Convoy owners, Eunan McBride and Brian Cooper.

The final bet on the card, for me, will be ‘Collarhouse Peppa’ from trap four in the last race on the card over 550 yards. The January ‘14 bitch has a decent card winning seven out of her 19 races. The big advantage ‘Collarhouse Peppa’ has tomorrow night in her race is that the three dogs on her inside are all slow starters, so I fancy her to lead. If doing so she should win for her Lifford based owner, Patsy Whyte.

Also tomorrow night there will be live racing on the track’s tvs from Shelbourne Park. The main races on the card will be the second round heats of the Healthcare and Transport Services Oaks. Trainer, Graham Holland has a very strong hand in this competition he had five winners out of the eight first round heats last week the most impressive was ‘Sidarian Pearl’ who won her heat in a very fast time of 28.17 for the 525 yards. She runs from trap six in the second heat tomorrow night and she cannot be opposed, the first race at Lifford will be at the normal time of 7.50 p.m.

Brandywell Greyhounds

There will be racing on Monday and Thursday next week at Brandywell. The extra meeting is to facilitate the large number of greyhounds that have entered competitions for the Gala Night of racing. That will take place on Monday, May 5th. There was no winner of the Track Lotto last Monday night. The numbers drawn were 3, 22, 28. The jackpot now stands at £3,225 and tickets can be bought before the first race at 8 p.m.
