'˜Lark in the Park returns to St. Columb's Park this April
The Maiden City Motor Club promoted '˜Lark in the Park' Stage Rally returns to St. Columb's Park in Derry on Saturday April 23rd.
This event has always proven very popular with competitors and rally fans alike because of its city based locality and easy access which makes it an ideal event for the wider public.
Innovations for this special year include a revised route with three stages in the Quigley’s Point area followed by the final 3 stages taking place back in the event’s home, the beautiful St Columb’s Park in the heart of the Waterside district.
The event committee are absolutely delighted that the ‘Lark in the Park’ is back in the ‘Park’ thanks to the support and backing of the Derry City & Strabane District Council and OFMDFM.
It should make for a great family fun day out with the opportunity for spectators to see rally action up close in the heart of the city with state of the art rally cars competing alongside the ever popular, and more than often sideways, Mark 2 Escorts along with a number of historic rally cars.
The Maiden City Motor Club is planning a packed day of motor sport with top local drivers demonstrating their skills around the twisty St. Columb’s Park lanes with special attention being paid to providing superb and safe viewing areas for spectators and families.
As for the rally, competitor’s will compete on six special stages using the tight and demanding asphalt park lanes along with the fast and demanding Donegal roads, for both modern and historic rally cars, sure to provide plenty of entertainment for the whole family.
The event is also going to incorporate a family fun day with entertainment for the whole family with bouncy castles, clowns and much more for the whole family throughout the day, all kicking off in the St Columb’s Park stage at 1pm.
Maiden City Motor Club have selected local charity ‘Children in Crossfire’ to benefit from the proceeds of the ‘Lark in the Park’ this year. Entry is £5 and all profits will be donated to Children in Crossfire
