McCloskey and Bonner honoured at Friday Night Darts AGM

Estate Services Friday Night Darts League stalwarts, Eugene Bonner and John McCloskey, were elected Honorary Chairman and Secretary respectively in recognition of their combined 90-year contribution to the locals darts scene following the league's AGM on Monday evening.

The well known duo retired during the season and the committee said it would like to put on record their thanks to both and wish them all the best for the future.

The 2015/16 AGM took place in George’s Bar with outgoing committee paying tribute to Estate Services for the sponsorship and their continued support of the Friday night league.

The incoming committee saw James Clancy elected as Secretary with Philip Dunne elected as Vice-Chairman to replace Oak representative Willie Green who stood down after 20 years on the committee. Special thanks to Mr. Green for his commitment to the Friday night league.

Rule changes passed for 2016/17 mean all league games will be played over five legs and a 9.15pm start will be required in all venues. The committee welcomed new team Amelia’s Bar to the Friday night dart scene and invited any other interested bar to send a representative along to the August meeting and enrolment.

In the last action of the season, Cosh won the ‘Top 5 Cup’ defeating league champions Mailey’s in the final game. Tracey’s won the ‘Bottom 5 Cup’ defeating Fairview in a tense final which went to a captains play-off between Mark Hegarty and Terry O’Kane, with Mark securing victory for Tracey’s. Kevin McCafferety dedicated the win on behalf of his team to the club captain, Eugene Bonner.
