DERRY middleweight Connor Coyle’s hopes of a first ever Irish Senior title came to a disappointing end tonight in Dublin.
The St Joseph’s ABC clubman lost his semi-final bout at the National Stadium on a split decision.
Coyle lost narrowly 2-1 to reigning Irish Elite middleweight champion, Michael O’Reilly who boxes out of the Portlaoise Boxing Club.
O’Reilly, who won silver for Ireland at the 2011 European Youth Championships in Dublin, will now meet Stephen Broadhurst in the 2015 National Elite 75kg final next weekend.
Broadhurst unanimously beat Caoimhin Hynes of Holy Trinity in the other semi-final.
