GERDA Laird defeated Naoimh Quigg on a break of tie to claim last Tuesday’s Lady Captain’s Charity Open (Rosaleen McAnualla) in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Played in favourable conditions on a perfectly manicured course, Gerda’s score of 38 points was matched by Naoimh, however, the 16 handicapper claimed top honours thanks to a superior back nine score.

Lorna Thompson won the July Monthly Medal competition which was played on Thursday, July 25th having returned the top score of 72 nett.
Winner of 20’s competition No. 248 was Sadie O’Kane (21) with 25 points; No. 249 competiton – Anne Hamilton (14) 28 points.
Foyle Lady Captain, Mrs. Faye McGrotty, will host her Lady Captain’s Day next Friday and the ladies are invited for light refreshments and golf from 10.00 a.m.
The Lady Captain’s Dinner and Presentation of Prizes will follow the golf at 8.00 p.m. sharp.

Jean Fitzpatrick coped best in the blustery conditions at Buncrana on Friday last, the 22 handicapper returning an excellent winning score of 39 points.

The Lady Herdman Cup was up for grabs in last week’s Ladies Day at Strabane and Roisin Corry took top honours with a score of 67 nett in tough conditions.
