Daniel to decide Captain’s Day pins!

BUNCRANA Golf Club is expected to be a hive of activity this weekend when the club’s popular Captain, Daniel Lynch, stages his competitions.

With the Captain’s Prize to the Ladies already played, yesterday the club’s juvenile members played for their Captain’s Prize with the main event taking place over tomorrow (Sat.) and Sunday, June 3rd.

Given that Daniel is also an assistant greenkeeper at his home club, the skipper will be in total control of his day and it will be interesting to note the various pin positions on the “Lower Links” which will, no doubt, test the quality of the club’s membership.

Daniel will stage his Prizegiving Presentation prior to the traditional Dinner & Dance in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, last weekend’s competition was the annual W. P. McCarter Memorial Open Stableford and not only did the competitors have to master an east wind, they also had to get used to the new layout of the course.

Such problems did not deter the big hitting Paddy Corr who returned a superb score of 41 points for his first victory of the season.

Full results were - 1, Paddy Corr (24) 41 points; 2, break of tie, Jim Caldwell (12) 40; gross, Stephen Mc Hugh (5) 67; 3, Ray Gallagher (20) 40; best day (Sun.), Peter Kelly (15) 38; back nine, break of tie, Barry Dillon (24) 22; visitor, Brendan Callaghan (17) 31.

The C.S.S. was 38pts.

The Gareth Adams Memorial Open Stableford will commence Monday next, June 4th and run until Sunday, June 10th. Boasting a prize fund of E2,000, a fantastic array of prizes are on offer.
