Popular Keelan in control at Buncrana

Keenan Barrett produced the round of his career to date at Buncrana Golf Club last weekend when lading the prestigious Brennan’s Pharmacy Open Stableford event.

Indeed, his superb score of 44 points gave him a three points cushion over his nearest rival.

The popular winner laid the foundation for victory when he assembled 24 points on the opening nine holes and he held his nerve on the way home when adding a further 20 points for his total of 44.

(18) 23.

The C.S.S. was 38.

This weekend’s competition is the annual Buncrana Amateur Boxing Club’s fundraising Open Stableford which takes place over tomorrow, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, August 3rd, 4 th and 5th.

The usual fantastic array of prizes are again on offer and the competition organisers would appreciate a good turnout of members and guests for this fundraising event.

Meanwhile the popular “Find the Joker” club fund-raising effort has now reached Week 12 with the jackpot standing at E650.

The week 11 winner was Gavin Sweeney who won E25 having failed to find the Joker.

Lines cost E2 each and the Committee would appreciate you support of this local venture.

Finally, congratulations to Buncrana’s young members, Jack Duffy and Seosamh Gallanagh who enjoyed prominence at the recent Donegal Schoolboys’ Golf Championships held in Dunfanaghy.

Jack won the Under-12 category while Seosamh took top hours in the Under-16 section.
