A member of North-West Golf Club’s weekend “dawn patrol,” Sean Bridge, claimed the annual Donnell Cup competition on Sunday last, an event which attracted a large entry.
The nine handicapper, who is enjoying a rich vein of form of late, carded a fantastic 44 points to win by two clear points over his nearest rival.
Four birdies in a round of 71 blows and three under par for his last 11 holes proved to be enough for the popular Derry man to earn the top spot.
Describing the effort as one of his best rounds in quite some time, Bridge also claimed the gross prize in City of Derry’s recent Thursday Open at Prehen.
Full results from last Sunday’s competition at Lisfannon were - Donnell Cup, confined - 1, Sean Bridge (9) 44 points; 2, break of tie, Jimmy Harkin (12) 42; 3, Ronan McLaughlin (10) 42.
The C.S.S. was 68.
This weekend’s fare at Lisfannon includes the high profile Golf Store Europe sponsored Open Teams of Four Classic with an Open Fourbal Better Ball event scheduled for this Sunday.
